Happy Birthday Walt!
Today is Walt's birthday. I can barely sleep thinking of his reaction to his bass guitar, new case (on backorder), his amp and other stuff. Even though I won't be giving it to him - I am still excited. I won't see him until later. Poor guy doesn't get back from his camp interview until the afternoon. His parents are picking him up from the camp bus and immediately transporting him to practice with a running club he has joined. Remember his running? Well, he is running "State" next weekend. He is one heckuva guy and really deserves the special day headed his way.

my son ran cross country, and it was the craziest time of his life. I never understood runners, but I love to walk ( the dogs) and to hike. May the blessing to walt on his birthday bloom into something beautiful, enriching and soul filling.

Walt definitely needs a case for that guitar. Where will he put it until the case comes in? I'll bet if he is like a lot of boys, he'll just prop it up in some corner running the risk of being knocked over or damaged. I'd make him keep it in the box it came in - if you kept it. Also, sometime back you mentioned soft fingernails. I have advice for that one too - take a calcium supplement. You'll be surprised how it will help. Just giving all kinds of advice today but Walt's birthday brings out the best in me. Back to work - have to mow the yard so the neighbors won't complain.
Sorry for my recent absence from leaving comments. As you probably now from your constant visits, the last week was filled with studying for that dastardly MPRE. What does dastardly mean? Is it like bastard? Weird.
In any case, congrats on being featured in that other blog. I don't really know what it is, or what that means, but it sounds cool, "big time" almost. Soon I'm sure I'll be seeing you on Technorati's "most popular" index. Just going through that thing I'm shocked by how much crap is popular. Like there's this one Asian chick, I forget her name, but she just acts bitchy and can't write, and yet she's got links from thousands of users and she's been featured in tons of magazine (she includes pictures). What's up with that? It's about time some people that deserve recognition got it (i.e. you, Ariel, and myself).
It must suck to give a present to someone but not have them know it's from you. I guess it makes sense that he should think his parents got it for him, and I would probably do the same, since you don't want to steal their thunder. But still, it's a bit frustrating.
$10 gold coins on Halloween! WTF! I'm assuming they were the gold plated ones because the real ones, the solid gold ones, have to be in the $300 range. Damn you're generous; I aspire to follow in your shoes as soon as I have some money in my pockets.
That is just amazing - everything you are doing for other people just blows me away. From what you've said, this gift will be a fantastic surprise for him - and a well-deserved one.
And I must have missed the gold coins, but that is just fantastic too. How generous, and what a great way to remain anonymous (the little bags).
