I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. We lost our beloved boxer over a year ago and still miss her everytime we walk in the door.
I think we are still in denial a bit.

I leave it to the other commenters who communicate their sadness for your state of affairs. They have expressed it much better than I can from the vantage point of Bryson City. If it is any consolation, dogs, like us, have a finite lifespan. I'm sure he gave you and yours lots of happy moments. Those are the ones to keep. When we take on the responsibility for a pet we recognize it is not for the long-term in human life but rather the pet's. You are fortunate to have him for as long as you appear to have had. He looks contented on his bed - Old Baldy

What a beautiful baby.
I'm so sorry and you are not keeping us down.
I can only tell you one thing about being with a loved one who's dying. Take it moment by moment...not day by day as they say.
Again, Hang in there
