A cold, an anniversary and a blessing

I have a nasty cold. My throat feels like I have a brillo pad in it. I have an occasional cough. Yuck. I just got back from vacation and was counting on two days to get my house in order before I go back to work tommorrow. I'm just sort of bumbling around not seeming to get much accomplished.

Today is the anniversary of my grandfather's accident. He literally probably never knew what hit him. That day set in motion a series of events that changed so many lives forever. I've never been exposed to grief like that. I hope I never am again.

What's the blessing? It's a gorgeous day outside. I know I'll get over this cold. I'm rich (sorry to be crass mentioning it). It will all come together.

YAY!!! first comment!!!

haha so Miss WFW, I am getting over a cold too! I hate them, I'm coughing constantly and have a stuffed up nose. Ugh.

I'm sorry about your Grandfather's accident...I hope it wasn't too terrible.

Well I'm happy for you that it is a nice day outside. It's beautiful at my house too!

Hope you have a great day despite your tragedy.

VG, gosh! We must be laid up in bed almost together. Are you watching TV? I'm craving chicken soup. Maybe with a sub sandwich?

Mars Calling Earth.....I was thinking again today, now hold down on the applause i realise this is twice in two days, and if i keep this up i'll be a babbling idiot by the end of the month giving away pieces of my mind.So , this is absolutly the last thinking i'm doing (got to save some brains for my retirement March 30..)Anyway I did have help on this I consulted my two white 6 toed cats and this giant shepard and my two song birds.I came to the conclusion you should delete everything about he who cannot be named(damn it sounds like a Harry Potter Novel)and delete anything that comes in then after a while you know ,out a sight out a mind! The two birds were too busy composing another song ,the cats said they will get back to me on this(Cats are philosiphers you know)and the dod totally agrees i think,he just keeps wagging his tail to everything i say.Something like my ex-wife use to do all over town. But thats a horse of a different colour, and a whole other ball game.so mull it over and maybe give it a whirle.

George here with some not so sound advice (i should give Dear Abby a hand)

'True Friendship'
(With none of that Sissy Crap!!!!)
Are you tired of those sissy 'friendship' poems that always sound good, but never actually come close to reality?
Well, here is a series of promises that actually speak of true friendship. You will see no cutesy little smiley faces on this card - just the stone cold truth of our great friendship.

1. When you are sad -- I will help you get drunk and plot revenge against the sorry bastard who made you that way.
2. When you are blue -- I will try to dislodge whatever is choking you.
3. When you smile -- I will know you finally got laid.
4. When you are scared -- I will rag on you about it every chance I get.
5. When you are worried -- I will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be until you quit whining.
6. When you are confused -- I will use little words.
7. When you are sick -- Stay the hell away from me until you are well again. I don't want to catch whatever you have.
8. When you fall -- I will point and laugh at your clumsy ass.
9. This is my oath..... I pledge it to the end.
'Why?' you may ask.'because you are my friend'.
Friendship is like peeing yourself when you are wearing navy pants, no one can see it, but you still get a warm feeling.
Send this to 'all 10' of your friends, then get depressed because you can only think of four!!! (don't send it back to me....I don't want to hear it!!!)
And remember....when life hands you Lemons, ask for tequila and salt and call me over

VFW -- Sorry to hear you're ill. I finally, finally got rid of a lingering case of strep throat last week after two round of antibiotics. Took me weeks to finally knock that out.

I know there is little to say or do after a devastating loss, but there's a book called "How to survive the loss of a love" & it really helped me through the loss of a close friend & again later when going through a break-up. (I wrote a few poems about the latter. Perhaps you've heard of them. :)

Anyway, it was a very light, easy read that just seemed to "understand."

Gorgeous weather here in Michigan as well. Hope the sunshine lifts your spirits.

"There's a quiet beauty in sadness." - from the book
